You have access to a project
A selection has been created
The client has access to the Client Portal

Publish a Selection
When creating a selection, you can either save it as a draft or publish it immediately.
Draft selections are only visible to project team members. Clients cannot see draft selections in the Client Portal.
To share a selection with your client:
Open the selection.
Review the selection details and available options.
Click Publish.
Once published, the selection status automatically changes to Pending and becomes available in the Client Portal.
💡 Tip - Publishing a selection makes it visible in the Client Portal, but it does not notify the client. To notify the client, you must send or resend the selection.
If the Selection is Saved, the status will be Draft.
ℹ️ Note - Draft selections are only visible to team members with the appropriate permissions. Clients cannot view draft selections in the Client Portal.
Share Selections With Clients
Once a selection has been published, you can send it to your client by using either the Share or Resend option.
To send multiple published selections at once click Share in the upper-right corner.
To send an individual selection, locate the selection, click the ⋯ (three-dot menu), and select Resend.
Both options open the Send Selection window, where you can configure the email before sending it to the client.
The following fields are available:
Select Clients - Choose one or more clients who should receive the selection notification.
Subject - Enter or modify the email subject line.
Message - Customize the email message that will be sent to the client.
Insert Placeholder - Insert dynamic values such as Client Name, Company Name, Project Name, Company Phone Number, and Company Email. These placeholders are automatically replaced with the corresponding information when the email is sent.
Send Me a Copy - Sends a copy of the email to your own email address.
Copy Link - Copies a direct link to the selection, allowing you to share it outside of Buildern if needed.
Once you have configured the email, click Send to notify the selected clients.
Client Experience
After the email is sent, the client receives an email notification containing a View Selections button.
Clicking the button opens the Client Portal, where clients can see all published selections that have been shared with them.
From here, clients can review all information provided by the builder before making their selection:
View selection details
Review available options
View images and descriptions for each option
Select their preferred option
Decline an option if necessary
Once the client selects an option, Buildern automatically updates the selection and marks the chosen option as Selected. If customer Rejected Status changes Declined.
Manage Watchers
Watchers help keep project team members informed about updates and activity related to a selection.
To manage watchers:
Locate the selection.
Click the ⋯ (three-dot menu).
Select Watchers.
From the Watchers panel, you can view current watchers, add new ones, or remove users who no longer need to follow the selection.
ℹ️ Note - Watchers receive notifications when changes are made to the selection, helping team members stay informed throughout the review and approval process.
Communicate With Clients Through Comments
Selections include a Comments tab that allows builders and clients to communicate throughout the selection process.
To access comments:
Locate the selection.
Click the ⋯ (three-dot menu).
Select Edit.
Scroll down to the Comments section.
The Comments section allows builders and clients to communicate directly, share updates, ask questions, and attach files, images, or documents related to the selection.
ℹ️ Note - Comments are visible to both project team members and clients, helping keep all selection-related communication in one place.
