Let’s keep it simple!
Clients in Buildern are free to add. You can collaborate without interruptions using the simple and intuitive Client Portal, which gives clients access to all the essential tools they need.
Give Client Portal Access
To grant a client access to the Client Portal, open Contacts → Clients and locate the client you want to update.
You will see all the essential data concerning your clients here, as well as those who have access to the client portal.
On the right side of each client row, there is a three-dot (⋯) action menu. When you click this menu, several options appear:
1. View – to open the client’s profile
2. Edit – to update the client’s details or manage Client Portal access
3. Remove – to delete the client from the system
To continue granting or updating Client Portal access click Edit.
Enable Grant access to Client portal, choose the client’s role - typically Client
You can then review your client’s permissions by clicking on Show permissions.
ℹ️ Note:If you edit the default permissions and grant access beyond the standard Client role, the user may be converted from a free user to a paid user.We recommend avoiding changes to the default Client permissions unless necessary. Modifying them may:
1. Expose more information than intended
2. Grant access to restricted modules
3. Convert the user from free to paid, affecting your subscription
Always review permission changes carefully before saving.
Save the changes and see a checkmark icon appearing next to the client’s name.
ℹ️ Note: After portal access is enabled, the client is automatically added as a free user. If you later need to resend the invitation or change their role, this must be done from the Users page.
Resend a Client Invitation
To resend an invitation, navigate to Contacts → Users and lo
Click the three-dot menu at the end of the row and select Resend to send the invitation again.
After receiving the email, the client should respond to it through the link sent to them via email.
Your client should click the “Join for free” button received in the email and set a unique password to access the portal.
Once in, your clients will get access to all projects they are involved in.
💡 Tip: To make it easier for your clients and team members to log in and access the system, you can add Buildern’s widget to your website. Find the widget code in your company settings.
Clients can access only the modules and information you choose to share. All selected data - such as invoices, change orders, and other key project details - is securely stored in the Client Portal, providing transparency and streamlined access to project workflows.
