📋 Requirements
Before you begin, make sure:
You have access to a project
An estimate has already been created
The estimate contains at least one line item

Create a Selection from an Estimate Item
1. Open the Estimate
Open your project
Navigate to Estimate
Locate the estimate item you want to convert into a selection
2. Convert the Item into a Selection
Click the ⋯ (three dots icon ) next to the estimate item
Select Create
Click Selection
Buildern will automatically create a selection based on the selected estimate item.
3. Configure the Selection
Once done, you will be redirected to the Create Selection page. From here enter the required information:
Name – Enter a name that clearly identifies the selection.
Link To – Select the estimate item this selection is associated with.
Deadline – Set a date by which the client should make their selection.
Category – Organize selections into categories for easier management and filtering.
Location – Specify where the selected item will be used within the project.
Workflow – Define how long the client can modify their selection.
Pricing – Control whether pricing information is displayed to the client.
Description – Provide additional details, specifications, or instructions for the client.
Options – Add one or more choices for the client to review and select from. Options can be created manually or added from the Cost Catalog.
Internal Notes – Add notes that are visible only to your team and not shared with clients.
Additional Permissions – Configure how clients, vendors, and installers can interact with the selection and what information they can view.
Comments – Collaborate with team members and track discussions related to the selection after it is created.

After completing the setup click Publish or Save to user later.
Once published, the selection becomes available to the client through the Client Portal.
Identify Estimate Items with Selections
When a selection is created from an estimate item, Buildern displays a small blue S icon next to the estimate item.
This indicator helps you quickly identify estimate items that have associated selections without opening the Selections & Allowances section.
ℹ️ Note - Any updates to the selection, including workflows, deadlines, options, permissions, and pricing settings, can be managed from the Selections and Allowances section after publication.
This functionality helps ensure smoother communication and more efficient project tracking.
