How to Add Public Holidays and Configure Working Hours in the Schedule

Precise scheduling begins with the right calendar setup. In Buildern, you can set working hours, add recurring holidays, and define custom exceptions to match real project conditions. This guide walks you through how to configure your Schedule settings.

Access Schedule Settings

To configure working hours and holidays:

  1. Log in to your Buildern account.

  2. Click on Company Settings (Gear ) icon.

  3. Navigate to Schedule Settings.

You can access it either directly from your account settings or through the Schedule configuration panel.

ℹ️ Note: This option is available only in the Gantt Chart and Calendar modules. It is not supported in the List View.

Set Working Hours

Once inside Schedule Settings, start by defining your standard working hours.

Step 1: Create and Name the Calendar

If no active calendar exists, you must enable and create one first.

  1. Click Add New Calendar.

  2. Enter a clear and descriptive name (for example, Main Crew Calendar or Commercial Projects Schedule).

💡 Tip: If you manage multiple calendars for different teams or project types, make sure the name clearly identifies its purpose.

Step 2: Define Standard Working Hours

After creating the calendar:

  1. Set the start and end time for each working day.

  2. Configure breaks or lunch periods, if applicable.

💡 Tip: Use the option to copy the working hours across all selected working days to save time.

Set Non-Working Days and Workday Exceptions

The Schedule Settings page allows you to define both Non-Working Days and Workday Exceptions, ensuring your project calendar reflects real operational conditions.

1. Use the Non-Working Days section to mark dates when no work should be performed.

To set a non-working day:

  1. Select a date from the calendar.

  2. Mark it as Non-Working.

  3. Enable Recurring if the holiday repeats every year (such as Christmas or national holidays).

  4. Click Save.

ℹ️ Note: Tasks scheduled on non-working days will automatically move according to your calendar settings.

2. The Workday Exceptions section lets you override normal working hours for specific dates.

This is useful for:

  • Overtime work

  • Working weekends

  • Shortened or extended work hours

  • Special project deadlines

To add a workday exception:

  1. Select the date.

  2. Set custom working hours (for example, 09:00–17:00).

  3. Save the changes.

ℹ️ Note: Unlike non-working days, exceptions adjust only that specific date without changing your overall calendar setup.

Final Step: Save Your Calendar Configuration

Once you have:

  • Created and named your calendar

  • Defined standard working hours

  • Added non-working days

  • Configured any workday exceptions

Click Save and Continue to apply your changes.

Your updated calendar settings will now be reflected in Schedule mode, and all tasks will follow the configured working rules moving forward.
