Let’s now see the process of adding new roles to your company.
Go to System Settings
Click the 9 dots icon > Roles and Permissions.
Here you will see the default roles added to your account automatically once you register. The Roles have multiple configurations: View, Add, Edit, Delete.
Permission to View
Roles such as the "Field Worker" have a default configuration, where the function to view certain entities in your Buildern system can be adjusted. The view settings for each entity can be customized to your liking. Any role user can have access to View, No Access or a custom configuration to view only assigned to or until a certain time frame.
To access the custom view setting click the arrow dropdown next to to View tick-box and customize the view permission accordingly
Permission to Add
Any Role that has the permission to "Add" will have the ability to create a new entity for represented feature. For example: Any user account that has the permission to add a Change Order, will have the ability to create a new Change Order.
Permission to Edit
Any Role that has the permission to "Edit" will have the ability to edit any created entity for represented feature. For example: Any user account that has the permission to Edit a Change Order, will have the ability to edit a Change Order that they can voew.
ℹ️ Note – If a user's view permission is set to "Can view Draft" or "Assigned to them," but the user also has access to Edit, the edit functionality will only apply to those records that match the view settings.
Permission to Delete
Any Role that has the permission to "Delete" will have the ability to Delete a entity for represented feature. For example: Any user account that has the permission to delete a Change Order, will have the ability to delete any Change Order that they have access to View.
Paid and Free Role
Buildern has two type of accounts Paid ones and Free Roles. By default Sub/Vendors Client and Field worker roles are free of charge and they are configured accordingly. For example a Field Worker has limited View, Add and Edit permissions which limit what they can access in Buildern.
While the Project Manager or General Admin have all the View, Add, Edit and Delete permissions making the users who have this role assigned a paid account.
The yellow stars next to ticks indicate if adding that ability to View/Add/Edit/Delete makes the Role a Paid or a Free account. Client, Sub/Vendor and Cleint accounts are configured to be free roles. However if a tick is added for the role which has the yellow star next to it makes the role a Paid one.
Create a Custom Role
If no default Role fits your company's needs a custom role can be created.
Click the "Add new role" button from the top left corner and start creating the role.
Give the Role a name and start adding their permissions.
Click Confirm and Save to create the custom role.
🧠 Keep in mind that if ticks with yellow starts are added to the custom role, that custom role will become a Paid role.
When a custom Role is created and saved it can later be used to apply to other user accounts. With Buildern roles and permissions are decided from the Role edit page.
