How to Import Subcontractors & Vendors From Excel Files in Buildern

If you already have a list of subcontractors or vendors, Buildern allows you to import them in just a few steps. In this article, you will learn how to import subcontractors and vendors using Excel/CSV files.

Access the Import Option

To import your subcontractors/vendors:

  1. Open Buildern

  2. Click the People icon in the top-right corner

  3. Select Sub/Vendors

  4. Click Import

If you already have existing subcontractors/vendors in Buildern, you can also click the Import button in the upper-right corner and select Vendors from there.

Once you click Import, you will see multiple import sources available.

Buildern allows you to import your data from different applications depending on where your data is coming from.

๐Ÿ’ก Tip - If you already have your data in a spreadsheet, the fastest and most common method is using Excel / CSV.

Import via Excel / CSV

1. Download the Template

Before uploading your file, click on Buildern sub/vendors template to download the recommended format.

This template helps you structure your data correctly.

Make sure your Excel/CSV file:

  • Does not include unnecessary header rows

  • Matches the structure of the Buildern template

  • Includes key fields such as:

    • Company name* (Required)

    • Contact person name

    • Email

    • Mobile number

    • Business number

    • Address

    • Labels

๐Ÿ’ก Tip - Column names and order are flexible, but matching the template ensures a smoother import.

2. Upload the File

  1. Click Upload or drag and drop your file into the upload area

  2. Wait for the file to be processed

After uploading, Buildern will display a preview of your data.

Here, you need to match your file columns to Buildern fields, such as:

  • Company Name

  • Contact Name

  • Email

  • Mobile Number

  • Business Number

  • Address

  • Labels

Buildern allows you to change the order of the columns by selecting the correct field from each dropdown. This means your file does not need to follow a strict column order - as long as each column is properly matched to the corresponding Buildern field , the import will work correctly.

Make sure all required fields are correctly mapped.

3. Complete the Import

Once everything is reviewed:

  1. Click Continue

  2. Buildern will import your subcontractors/vendors into the system

In the next guide, weโ€™ll take a closer look at more Buildern features and tools.
