How to Manage Selections in Buildern

Buildern provides several tools and actions to help you manage selections throughout the project lifecycle. In this article, you'll learn how to duplicate, copy, share, organize, and manage existing selections.


Manage Existing Selections

The ⋯ (three-dot menu) also provides several additional actions for managing selections throughout the project lifecycle.

View a Selection - Select View to review the selection details without making changes.

Duplicate a Selection - Select Duplicate to create a copy of an existing selection.

Copy to - Select Copy to to copy the selection to another project or template.

💡 Tip - Use Copy to when you want to reuse the same selection setup across multiple projects without recreating it manually.

Resend - Select Resend to send the selection notification to the client again.

When you select Resend, Buildern opens the Send Selection window, where you can review and customize the notification before sending it.

From this window, you can:

  • Select Clients - Choose one or more clients who should receive the selection notification.

  • Subject - Modify the email subject line.

  • Message - Customize the email message sent to the client.

  • Insert Placeholder - Insert dynamic values such as Client Name, Company Name, Project Name, Company Phone Number, and Company Email. These placeholders are automatically replaced with the corresponding information when the email is sent.

  • Send Me a Copy - Receive a copy of the email in your inbox.

  • Copy Link - Copy a direct link to the selection and share it outside of Buildern if needed.

Once you have configured the email, click Send.

Unpublish - Select Unpublish to remove the selection from the Client Portal.

Once unpublished, clients can no longer view or interact with the selection until it is published again or a specific permission grants them access.

Close - Select Close to prevent further changes to the selection. Closed selections remain available for reference but can no longer be modified by clients.

Download - Select Download to export the selection information.

This can be useful for sharing selection details outside Buildern or maintaining project records.

Watchers - Select Watchers to manage users who should receive notifications about updates to the selection.

Watchers receive notifications when updates are made to the selection, helping project team members stay informed.

Delete - Select Delete to permanently remove the selection from the project.

ℹ️ Note - Deleted selections cannot be recovered.


Filter and Organize Selections

Buildern provides several tools to help you locate and organize selections within a project.

Search for Selections - Use the field to find selections by name.

This is useful when working with projects that contain a large number of selections.

Filter Selections - Use the available filters to narrow down the selection list and display only the selections you need.

Available filters include:

  • Options - Filter selections based on option-related criteria.

  • Status - Display selections with a specific status, such as Draft, Pending, or Selected.

  • Category - Display selections assigned to a specific category.

  • Location - Display selections associated with a specific project location.

Group by - Use the Group By dropdown to organize selections into groups.


Change the Selection Layout

Buildern provides multiple layout options for viewing selection options.

Use the layout controls in the upper-right corner of the Selections and Allowances page to switch between available views.

1) List View displays selection options in a compact list format.

2) Card View displays each selection option as a visual card, making it easier to review images, descriptions, and option statuses.

💡 Tip - Combine filters with grouping options to quickly locate selections in large projects and improve overall selection management.


Customize Visible Columns

Buildern allows you to customize which information is displayed in the selection list so you can focus on the data most relevant to your workflow.Click the Columns icon in the upper-right corner of the page to manage the information displayed in the selection list.

From the Columns panel, you can:

  • Use the Search field to quickly find columns.

  • Check or uncheck columns to show or hide them.

  • Use Select All, Deselect All, or drag and drop columns to customize the table layout.

Download Selections - Click the Download icon in the toolbar to export all selections information.

Share and Create Selections - The action buttons at the top of the page provide quick access to common selection tasks:

  • Add Selection - Create a new selection directly from the Selections page.

  • Share - Share published selections with clients for review and approval.
