ℹ️ Note: Everything a project manager can access within the mobile app, as well as on the desktop version, depends on the permissions assigned by the General Administrator.
Getting Started
To access the Buildern mobile app, a project manager must first be invited to the Buildern account by a General Administrator.
After receiving the invitation:
Accept the invitation.
Create a password.
Download the Buildern mobile application on your device.
Sign in using the newly created credentials.
Alternatively, users can also access Buildern through a mobile web browser by logging into the Buildern website.
Profile Settings
Once logged in, tap the Profile icon located in the upper-right corner of the application.
From here, project managers can:
View and edit their profile information.
Upload or change their profile picture.
Change their password.
Configure push notification preferences.
Configure email notification preferences.
Log out of the application.
Notification Preferences
Users can customize how they receive notifications for:
All new messages
Direct messages and mentions
No notifications
For both mobile and email notifications, users can choose whether notifications should be delivered:
Always
When inactive
After being inactive for a specified amount of time
Switching Between Buildern Accounts
If a user belongs to multiple Buildern companies, they can easily switch between them.
To do so:
Tap the profile icon.
Tap the company dropdown displayed above your name.
Select the desired Buildern account.
Bottom Navigation Menu
The bottom navigation bar provides quick access to the primary areas of the mobile application:
Projects
Calendar
Timesheets
Notifications
More
Each section is described below.
Projects
The Projects tab displays all projects the user has permission to access.
Within this page, project managers can:
View all available projects.
Switch between different project views (such as All Projects, Archived Projects, or projects they created).
Change between List View and Board View.
Filter projects using available filters such as project status.
Create new projects.
Import projects.
Availability of project creation and importing depends on user permissions.
To open a project:
Tap the project name.
To access additional project actions:
Swipe horizontally (or scroll to the right) and tap the three-dot menu.
Calendar
The Calendar provides an overview of scheduled work across projects.
Users can switch between different calendar views:
Day
Week
Month
Year
The desired view can be selected from the dropdown menu in the upper-right corner.
Navigation arrows allow users to quickly move between dates.
Creating New Items
From the Calendar, users can create new project items directly.
Depending on permissions, they can create:
Scheduled Tasks
Schedule Milestones
Selections
To-Dos
Daily Logs
RFIs
Timesheets
The Timesheets module allows users to either clock in for live time tracking or manually create timesheet entries.
Clock In
To begin tracking work in real time:
Tap the Clock In (play) button.
Select the project.
Enter the required information, such as the Cost Code.
Tap Clock In.
The timer will continue running until the user clocks out.
Creating Manual Timesheets
To create a timesheet for work completed previously:
Tap the + icon.
Select the appropriate project.
Enter:
Start time
Duration
Cost code
Work item
Any additional required information
This option is intended for manually recording completed work rather than tracking it in real time.
Managing Time Cards
Within the Timesheets section, users can also:
View all time cards.
Browse timesheets using the calendar.
Open individual time cards.
Edit existing entries (if permitted).
Access additional actions through the three-dot menu.
The available actions mirror those available in the Buildern web application.
Notifications
The Notifications tab displays all unread notifications.
If push notifications are enabled within the mobile application settings, users will also receive notification pop-ups directly on their mobile devices whenever new activity occurs.
More Menu
The More section provides access to additional Buildern modules and company-wide information.
Dashboard
View the overall dashboard containing project information and summaries.
All Items
The All Items section provides access to project records across the company.
Depending on permissions, users can access:
Purchase Orders
Bills
Change Orders
Client Invoices
Daily Logs
Timesheets
To-Dos
RFIs
Emails
Users can manage these records similarly to the web version.
Messages
The Messages module allows users to:
View existing conversations.
Continue ongoing discussions.
Create new conversations.
Availability depends on user permissions.
CRM
Project managers can access the CRM directly from the mobile app.
Available sections include:
Clients
Subvendors
Users
Depending on permissions, users can:
Create new records.
Edit existing records.
View contact information.
Import CRM data.
Project Templates
Users can:
View project templates.
Create new project templates.
Manage existing templates.
Permission restrictions may apply.
Cost Codes & Cost Catalog
The mobile app provides access to:
Cost Codes
Cost Catalog
Users can review and manage these records similarly to the web application, subject to their assigned permissions.
Global Import
Users with the appropriate permissions can use the Global Import feature to import supported data into Buildern.
Help Center
The Help Center gives users quick access to Buildern resources and support.
From this section, users can:
Start a live chat with Buildern Support.
Browse Help Center articles.
Book an onboarding session.
Review recently released features in What’s New.
Explore upcoming product releases and planned improvements.
Permissions
The Buildern mobile application follows the same permission structure as the web application.
Project Managers have access to nearly all Buildern features available through the mobile application. By default, they can perform almost all actions available in the web version, with the exception of the following permissions:
Deleting Users (Team Members).
Deleting Subvendors.
Managing Roles & Permissions.
Editing Company Settings.
All other modules and actions are available based on the standard Project Manager role and the projects they have been granted access to.
ℹ️ Note: If a feature or module is unavailable, it is likely restricted by the user’s assigned permissions.
