Set a Scale Manually

Follow the steps below to manually calibrate the scale:

1. Open the Plan

  • Navigate to the Takeoff module

  • Upload or open your plan (PDF)

  • Click the PDF you want to start annotating

  • Click the Scale button located in the upper-right corner

2. Start Scaling

After clicking the Scale button, a panel will open on the right side of the screen.

At the top of this panel, you will see three available options:

  • Common - Use this option when your plan already includes a predefined scale

  • Calibrate - Use this option when the scale is not predefined.

  1. Select Calibrate

  2. Click two points on the drawing with a known distance

  3. Enter the actual distance value

Buildern will calculate the scale automatically.

  • Manually - Use this option when the scale is not defined in the plan

Each option allows you to define the scale in a different way, depending on the information available in your plan.

ℹ️ Note - You can apply the same scale to multiple plans.

3. Start Measuring

Once the scale is successfully set, you can proceed with creating measurements on your plan.

Setting the correct scale is essential, as all measurements will be calculated based on it. Without an accurate scale, your takeoff results may be incorrect.
