Start from Your Project
Open the project you’re working on and head to the left-hand menu. Click on Daily Logs.
If this is your first time, the page will be empty - no entries yet, just a prompt inviting you to begin. That blank space is intentional. It’s where your project’s day-by-day story will start to take shape.
Step 1: Click “Create Daily Log/Site Diary”
Click Create Daily Log/Site Diary.
You’re now looking at a clean entry form - this is where you capture everything that mattered today.
At the top, the date is already filled in. In most cases, you’ll log things on the same day, but if you’re catching up, you can easily adjust it.
Step 2: Set the Basic Info
At the top of the page, you’ll start by filling in the basic details of your daily log.
Name: Enter a clear title for your log. This helps quickly identify the entry later (for example, “Foundation Work – Day 1” or “Site Progress Update”).
Date and time: This is automatically filled in based on the current day, but you can adjust it if you’re logging information for a different date.
Labels (optional): You can add labels to organize your logs more effectively. Labels act like tags, making it easier to filter and find specific entries later - especially useful on larger projects with many logs. These aren’t required, but they can help you organize logs later - especially as your project grows and you need a quicker way to filter or find specific entries.
If you don’t have any labels yet, you’ll see an Add New option. Click on it, enter a name for your label (for example, “Inspection”, “Delay”, or “Delivery”), and then click Save.
Once created, you can reuse these labels across your daily logs to keep everything neatly categorized and easy to navigate.
Step 3: Add a Description
The main part of the log is the Description field. This is where you tell the story of the day.
There’s no rigid format - just focus on what matters:
What work was completed?
What progress was made?
Were there any delays or issues?
Did anything important change or require attention?
You can keep it simple or detailed, depending on your needs. The built-in editor lets you format your notes, so longer entries stay readable and structured.
Over time, these entries build a clear timeline - something you can look back on to understand exactly how the project evolved.
Step 4: Include Weather Information
Buildern lets you include weather data with a simple toggle. Once enabled, it automatically adds details like temperature, humidity, wind, and precipitation.
This is useful for tracking how site conditions may have impacted work.
Step 5: Add Attachments
Use the Attachments section to upload images or documents from the site:
Progress photos
Delivered materials
On-site issues
Reports or files
These visuals add another layer of clarity and make your logs far more valuable over time.
Step 6: Share with Client
At the bottom of the page, you’ll see the Share with Client option.
Enable this if you want to send the daily log to your client
The client will receive it via email and can also view it in their portal
By checking the box, your client receives the log via email and can view it in their portal. It keeps communication transparent without needing separate updates or reports.
Step 7: Add Comments
After a daily log is created, you’ll notice a Comments section at the bottom of the entry.
This is where collaboration happens.
Instead of editing the original log every time something needs to be added or clarified, team members can leave comments to:
Ask questions about the day’s activities
Provide updates or additional context
Flag issues or follow-ups
Confirm completed work
ℹ️ Note - The comments section becomes available only after the daily log has been created.
Step 8: Save the Day
Once everything is in place, click Create.
That’s it - your first daily log is now part of the project.
What’s Next?
After creating a daily log/Site Diary:
It becomes part of your project’s record
Your team can review and collaborate on it
You can continue adding logs daily to maintain a complete project history
One workflow down - many more Buildern features to explore.
See you in the next guide, and happy building!
